The Russia 24 about the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk

The Russia 24 went public about the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk (GTZ), which is a part of the New Land Grain Corridor Group of Companies.

The modernization of the largest Russian grain terminal continues in Zabaikalsk.

The total investments in this project amount to 9.5 billion rubles.

The New Land Grain Corridor Group of Companies implements the same named Russian-Chinese project in pursuance of the agreements between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of the PRC Xi Jinping.

"The Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk is the largest land logistics point and the world's first specialized railway transshipment point which will become the key element of the New Export Russia-China Land Grain Corridor."

"This is a powerful grain transshipment facility, even on maritime standards, with the capacity of 8 million tons per year.

It solves the major problems of the difference in Russian and Chinese railway wheel tracks. It can accept 71 nominal cars from the Russian side on a wide wheel track and 84 Chinese cars on a narrow wheel track for grain transshipment.

The direct transit is impossible due to the difference in railway wheel tracks", mentioned CEO of the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk Karen Ovsepian.

The main activities of the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk include grain transshipment and solving the technical problem of difference in the railway wheel tracks according to the Russian and Chinese standards (1520 mm and 1435 mm) which makes impossible the through transit of cars.

The terminal was designed and built in accordance with the international quality standards and will contribute to the creation of the unique infrastructure for food export to China.

The commissioning of the Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk in September 2022 will enable to fulfill the great production potential of the agricultural territories of Ural, Siberia and the Far East and to strengthen the food security of the Russian Federation.
