Senator Bair Zhamsuev paid a working visit to Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk

On January 18, representative of the executive branch of the Government of the Zabaikalsk Territory Bair Zhamsuev visited the world's first specialized full-cycle grain terminal in Zabaikalsk during his working visit to the region.

“A great job has been done for ten years after presentation of the project at the meeting of the Interregional Association of the Economic Cooperation of the Constituent Entities of the RF “Siberian Accord”, from a concept to a modern unparalleled enterprise which has no analogues in the world so far. Both the modern process technology level and the highest standards of biological safety and product quality management are impressive. Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk is a key element of the large-scale project “New Land Grain Corridor” supported by the Russian President”, noted Bair Zhamsuev.

The cross-border Terminal Zabaikals is the shortest route for export of grain, grain legumes and oilseeds from the agricultural regions of Siberia and the Zabaikalsk Territory to China, which will allow the Russian grain to compete successfully with the products from the US and Canada on the Chinese market.

The terminal has the intended capacity of soybeans, rapeseed, wheat, oat, corn, sunflower and barley transshipment of 8 million tons a year, which can be increased to 20 million tons a year. There are 16 completed grain storage containers called silo towers, each 27 meters high and with the capacity of 5 thousand tons of grain. The high-tech equipment has been installed in the terminal. Formation of a fleet of locomotives and special machinery, installation of conveyors, automatic controls and a dust suppression system, and equipping of a grain quality-testing laboratory have been completed at the terminal.

When used at full power, there will be 350 workers; now 180 workers are involved in the terminal operation. Currently the accredited grain, including soybeans and oat, is stored in the grain terminal. Further regular deliveries are scheduled under the long-term export contract.

For reference Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk:

The Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk (GTZ) is a member of the New Land Grain Corridor GC. The GTZ is the world’s first and the today’s Russian most high-capacity specialized grain railway terminal Zabaikalsk-Manchuria with the transshipment capacity of up to 8 million tons a year. Its one-time storage capacity is 80 thousand tons and the total investments in this project amount to 9.5 billion rubles. The GTZ has adopted the highest standards of traceability, biological safety and quality management.
